Governor Kate Brown’s reopening metrics for all schools in Oregon was announced July 28, 2020. We must have three good weeks in a row per the new metrics and then we can reopen SHCS physically. Here are the details of the metrics.
1. The positive number of COVID tests for Jackson County must be <= 5% for the last three weeks.
2. The number of active COVID cases per 100,000 in Jackson County must be <= 10 cases for the last three weeks.
3. The positive number of COVID tests for Oregon must be <= 5% for the last three weeks.
Please be aware that we are monitoring the metrics very closely. Exceptions:
1. Kindergarten-3rd grade may be face to face if positive tests are <= 5% in the county for the previous 3 weeks and 2. Active COVID cases are<= 30 people per 100, 000 in the county for the previous 3 weeks, and 3. No COVID cases in the school. For example, if our opening day was August 2, we would need to look at the prior three weeks of metrics. As you can see, we have not been met the metrics, therefore we would move to Distance Learning. Our actual first day of school is August 31, 2020. That means we will need to look at the three weeks prior to August 31, 2020 to determine if we reopen face to face or through Distance Learning. We do not have this information yet, but please be aware that our high-quality Distance Learning program has been restructured from the ground floor and throughout all the grades to be more representative of the academic excellence and Catholic identity that Sacred Heart Catholic School has offered for over 150 years.
