2.24.16 Newsletter

Dear Sacred Heart Family,
One of the great privileges I am able to enjoy, starting this time of year, is leading tours for prospective new families. I just wanted to share the unsolicited positive comments invariably include a mention of the “feeling,” or palpable “family” atmos-phere at the school–an aspect, along with our commitment to academic excellence, that is a hallmark tied to our Catholic identity. It is gratifying to know it is so readily evident to visitors!

Dear Sacred Heart Family,
I hope you had a nice extended weekend. We are ready for a short but intense week of growth and learning here at school. During our Inservice Day Tuesday, Dr. Jeannie Ray-Timoney, the Archdio-cese of Portland Associate Superintendent and Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Accreditation visited us and our colleagues from St. Anne’s in Grants Pass. With her support and guidance, we worked on curriculum mapping and standards alignment–as we strive to assure ongoing academic excellence and continuous improvement.

Dear Sacred Heart Family,
What a great Catholic Schools Week we had. Thanks to the hard work of our teachers, staff, and parents, we had a wonderful celebration of our community of faith, learning and service, a celebration of the lifelong gift of a Catholic education and the national treasure of our Catholic schools, and a celebration of our 150 years of excellence with heart, at Sacred Heart School! I know it was a significant and meaningful week for our students.

Dear Sacred Heart Family,
Brooke DeBoer and Chop Chop Media have been on campus lately filming for our promotional video update. Yesterday, we filmed the whole student body as they exclaimed, “We love Sacred Heart School,” together. It rings true, and there is so much to love! I followed up on my own, asking students during the day about that. “Do you really? What is it that you love about Sacred Heart?” Here are some of the answers I got:

Dear Sacred Heart Family,
Welcome back to school, and welcome to a brand new year! I hope your family had a wonderful holiday.
Thank you to those of you who were able to complete our parent survey; we had a response rate from parents representing about 20% of our student population. You overwhelmingly identified the following as the top three positive aspects of Sacred Heart School:
Our Catholic Identity
Our School Family/Community
Our Teachers

12.9.15 Newsletter

Dear Sacred Heart Family,
Blessings on your family’s preparation for Christmas, this second week of Advent. Yesterday, our students attended Mass for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. Father Ken reminded us that God never sends challenges to us without also giving us the grace to meet them. May God’s Grace be with you. Today, our Catholic students who are ready will have the opportunity to attend a Reconciliation Service, with all of our priests available to hear confessions.
