1.7.15 Newsletter

From the desk of Ms. Conner:
Our Sacred Heart School motto is, “A Community of Faith & Learning”. Last month my article focused on academics- “Learning”. In light of our recent survey during conferences I thought I would focus this article on some of the points that YOU shared. The three things that rose to the top continually about why YOU are at Sacred Heart, and what sets us apart were: Community, Faith/Values, and our Teachers.

12.17.14 Newsletter

Dear Sacred Heart Family,
What fun we had yesterday loading up our big yellow bus full of Christmas presents! Thanks for your robust participation; you helped bring a little Christmas cheer to some needy individuals and families this season in a small and simple example of our commitment to service and to the Catholic value of social justice. Great job, NJHS and Student Council, for your ongoing and growing leadership and service efforts.

As we march forward into the 21st century, this staff page is meant to be a virtual faculty room, a space for “flipped” faculty meetings, a replacement of my weekly newsletter, replete with links to interesting and timely external content (articles, videos, etc.) that we become a shared common knowledge base…. 12.10.14 Newsletter

Dear Sacred Heart Family,
I hope you are in the midst of an advent season filled with peace, hope, love, joy, and faith, as we prepare for a wonderful Christmas vacation and holiday. I enjoyed seeing and chatting with many of you at Providence Festival of Trees, where our middle school band and chorale performed last week.

12.3.14 Newsletter

Dear Sacred Heart Family,
I will be writing one article each month for our newsletter. One of my job responsibilities is to assist with curriculum and instruction I thought I would focus this first article in this area. As one of the trainers for the Archdiocese I attend meetings in Portland or via phone conference. I bring the infor-mation back to our staff here at Sacred Heart to teach, update, and assist our teachers. I also present curriculum updates and changes at our Archdiocese curriculum in-services in Eugene.

11.26.14 Newsletter

Dear Sacred Heart Family,
We have a short week this week, and I will treat you to a commensurately short column. It turns out to be a week of endings: We finish up the liturgical year, we are ending our first trimester (look for report cards towards the end of NEXT week), and we end our second round of STAR testing–and our very successful Scholastic book fair as well. (Thanks to our librarian Ms. Suzie Schweitzer and our many parent volunteers for their efforts towards that good end).

11.19.14 Newsletter

Dear Sacred Heart Family,
The miracle of tablets and school wide wi-fi access benefits not only our students, but the principal as well. One of the ways I try to maximize my effectiveness as a school leader is to be present in our classrooms–where the action is! I am composing this newsletter to you, for example, as I move from class to class in our middle school hallway.
