Dear Sacred Heart Family,
Brooke DeBoer and Chop Chop Media have been on campus lately filming for our promotional video update. Yesterday, we filmed the whole student body as they exclaimed, “We love Sacred Heart School,” together. It rings true, and there is so much to love! I followed up on my own, asking students during the day about that. “Do you really? What is it that you love about Sacred Heart?” Here are some of the answers I got:

Dear Sacred Heart Family,
Welcome back to school, and welcome to a brand new year! I hope your family had a wonderful holiday.
Thank you to those of you who were able to complete our parent survey; we had a response rate from parents representing about 20% of our student population. You overwhelmingly identified the following as the top three positive aspects of Sacred Heart School:
Our Catholic Identity
Our School Family/Community
Our Teachers

Dear Sacred Heart Family,
Blessings on your family’s preparation for Christmas, this second week of Advent. Yesterday, our students attended Mass for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. Father Ken reminded us that God never sends challenges to us without also giving us the grace to meet them. May God’s Grace be with you. Today, our Catholic students who are ready will have the opportunity to attend a Reconciliation Service, with all of our priests available to hear confessions.

Dear Sacred Heart Family,
This Wednesday, during our Wednesday early re-lease time, our teachers spent time meeting in our PLC (professional learning community) groups–one for the lower grade levels, and one for the upper grade levels–as we regularly do, to collaborate and strategize a differentiated approach to best meet each of our learners’ individual needs.

11.10.15 Newsletter

Dear Sacred Heart Family,
Enjoy the day off of school on Wednesday, I hope you will take a moment to say a prayer of gratitude for our veterans’ service, and say “thanks,” to a veteran if you get the opportunity. Last week, I invited each of you to reflect daily, as we approach our Thanksgiving holiday, and note things for which you are grateful.

11.4.15 Newsletter

Dear Sacred Heart Family,
Thanks for the encouragement and support of my purple-haired self as I paid my debt to our students, who did such a great job with the Jog-a-thon. Thank you also for the many kind birthday wishes last week. It is a privilege to be a part of the Sacred Heart community and family.

10.28.15 Newsletter

Dear Sacred Heart Family,
Happy Halloween, everyone. While our students’ thoughts seem to move right to haunted houses, costumes, trick-or-treating and too much candy, let’s pause and remember Halloween (All Hallows–or All Saint’s–Eve) on October 31, All Saints Day on November 1, and All Souls Day on November 2, comprise a Catholic tradition of remembering, celebrating, and honoring our martyrs, saints, and the faithful departed, with each of those days having a unique focus.
