It’s hard to believe it’s almost Christmas. There is a lot of Christmas cheer in our Sacred Heart Catholic School. Our hallways are decorated to reflect the beauty of Advent and Christmas, gifts have been collected for St. Vincent de Paul and Family Nurturing Center and we are spreading Christmas cheer within the community.
Thank you so much for coming to the preschool through fifth grade Christmas concert on Monday. It was a great performance by our talented students. Tonight our Middle School students will be performing at 6:30 PM in the gym. We are gearing up for our auction. This year the auction is on April 6th at the Inn at the Commons. If you are interested in meeting more SHCS families or looking for ways to help and fulfill your volunteer hours, please contact Mrs. LeeAnn Loftin. She would love to work with you.
Wow…we’re getting closer to Christmas and every- one is so busy. Don’t forget to take the time to remember the reason we celebrate Christmas! Sometimes that can get lost with all the shopping, decorating, gift wrapping, cooking that we are all doing at this time of year.
I hope you all had a blessed Thanksgiving with your family and friends. It was wonderful to see all the students again. We are entering into the busiest but most wonderful time of the year as we celebrate the Advent season and Christ-mas.
You are cordially invited to our two upcoming Christmas Concerts…Monday, December 10 at 6 PM: PS-5th Grade, Beginning Band and Show Choir. (In the gym) Wed, Dec. 12 at 6:30 PM: 6-8th Grades and Intermediate Band. More info to follow with details. Misty Williams is working on a SHCS tree to be entered into the Providence Festival of Trees. It is a Noah’s Ark theme with beau-tiful blue, red and white decora-tions. And it’s going to be BIG! Be sure to visit the Festival of Trees at the Armory on November 30, December 1 and 2.
What an incredible and moving Veterans Day As-sembly we had yes-terday. This was the first one we have had and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Thank you to Captain Billy Haden who was our guest speaker. Captain Haden is a father of 3 and a current 14 year veteran in the National Guard. He talked about SACRIFICE, HERITAGE AND PRIDE. He comes from a long line of military fami-ly members and is very proud of being a member of the military.
SHCS welcomes all our families to our first annual Veterans Day Assembly. We will celebrate with poetry readings, prayers, homemade flags and more. Families are welcome to invite any relatives who are active duty, former or retired military to attend. We would love to be able to honor them. If any students have a relative who is not in the area, but would like to be recognized, please bring in a picture. Make sure you put your name on the back. See you there!
