Dear Sacred Heart Families,
It does not seem possible that this is the last week in September. Time flies when you’re hav-ing fun! The students are really enjoying all the extra events that they get to do because they are making all the goals for jogathon. Tacky Clash Day was certainly a tacky clashy success and Crazy Hat Day was also special and creative. Just a reminder that we will have our third annual Fall Harvest Festival on October 26 from 6-8 PM in the gym.
You guys rocked the first week of Jog-a-Thon! I am blown away by the determination and compassion you have for SHCS! Thank you for supporting our school! Not only do we get to celebrate with a Tacky/Clash day, but each class gets to pick an addi-tional fun thing to do! How awesome!!!! Let’s do it again for week 2 and have a Crazy Hat day celebra-tion! Remember hats can be creative! One time I wore a lamp shade for Crazy Hat day so let’s meet our goal and think outside of the box!
Thank you to all of our grandparents who visited our school last Friday. It was a great celebration and such an honor to meet everyone. We had over 100 grandparents attend and everyone seemed to have a wonderful time. I loved hearing the stories like, “When I attended school here this was 1st grade, or this was the chapel.” The history of our school is so much fun to hear. The teachers and I have been brainstorming ways to make next year’s Grandparents Day even better!
Our Back to School BBQ is set for Wednesday, September 12 from 5:30-7:00PM. Mrs. Sinclair has been sending out information on what sides we would be most appreciative for families to provide. The school will be providing hot dogs, hamburg-ers, veggie burgers, buns, condiments, lemonade and water. Don’t forget that during the BBQ we invite parents to visit teachers in the classroom from 6:30 –7:00 PM. I would love to see all our of Knight Family in attend-ance. The Back to School BBQ is one of my favorite events and this year the Knights of Columbus will be here!
Welcome to the 2018-19 school year. It is such a joy to walk into classrooms and see the stu-dents so engaged in learning.
Sacred Heart had an amazing summer . This summer we added windows in the upstairs west wing of building, the gym floor was pol-ished and sealed, all floors were waxed, the side walks were pressure washed, (Thanks to Rick), new STEM tables downstairs (Rick & Greg), new science tables and electrical supply up-stairs (Matt Wilcox) and the Computer Lab was transformed into Spanish classroom. And of course don’t forget our new Action Based Lab, the first one in the State of Oregon!
School’s out for summer! Well, almost! I am looking at the calendar and I cannot believe how quickly this year has flown by. The SHCS families are truly the most loving and kind individuals that I have had the pleasure of working with. The students are genuine and have such a desire to learn. I am very blessed that I am allowed to spend the days at SHCS. You are family! What a wonderful second year for me!
Thank you to the 40 something people who cast their auction theme vote…the theme will be an-nounced in the Fall.
I am hoping to recruit various parents for auction committee chairperson positions in the next few weeks. – LeeAnn
Thank you for attending the Academic Showcase! It was wonderful to see everyone, and we had a number of new families visit as well. Students you did a remarkable job on your showcase projects. We are so glad that you were able to come and spend the evening at school and observe first-hand what your child has been learning!
Isn’t this weather amazing! There is just something about the sunshine that makes the days brighter (pun intended)! Thank you so much for attending the Parent – Teacher Conferences last week. A number of parents were thrilled about having an evening option this year.
