Suzie Schweitzer has a Bachelor of Arts from Cal Poly, Pomona, a Masters of Science in Information Technology from the University of Phoenix, and endorsements for library science and mathematics. Through the years, she has taught students in kindergarten through eighth grade in various settings and Freshman English at Southern Oregon University. Suzie spent three years teaching hands-on science to teachers throughout the state, taught various computer software programs to teachers in the Medford School District, and was the regional director (region 5) for the Oregon Science Teachers’ Association for two years.
She was chosen to represent Oregon in NASA’s NEWEST program. She spent a summer at their Stennis Space Center, which is the primary center for testing and flight certifying of rocket propulsion systems. Suzie received Oregon’s Presidential Award for science two years in a row, was The American Electronics Association Elementary Science Teacher of the Year, and received the School & Community Service Award from the Medford Chamber.
Suzie has a husband, Bill, two children, and four grandchildren. “In addition to my wonderful husband and family, I love reading a good book, love working with the students at Sacred Heart Catholic School, and love teaching STEM and library science.”
