Highlights at a glance!
Our last week before spring break will be a busy one.
Tuesday is Clare’s birthday. Jackson County Search and Rescue will be doing a presentation entitled “Lost but Found”. Wednesday is St. Patrick’s day. We can’t have a big party because we are in the season of Lent. We will be having a “snack” and free choice. Let me know if you would like to send in your favorite green food. Thursday at 1:45 is our Winter Awards assembly and disco dance. Friday morning will be mass. Family is welcome to come with us! End of 2nd Trimester! Enjoy your SPRING BREAK! They are growing and learning so fast… 1st grade is right around the corner. |

Literacy: Our new WOW word for this week is “for”. We are also still working on our short “u”, initial “k” and ending “ck” sounds. In our Handwriting Without Tears series we are learning the letters “k and l”. Our little reader book is “Tom is Sick!” . Please practice these books when they are sent home. I have been waiting for all of the “BOB” books to come back in before sending the next one out. I am still missing a few. These should be sent back to school each Friday. We have several writing activities this week. Religion: We are in the season of Lent which teaches us to prepare for Christ’s resurrection. We are learning about Prayer, alms giving and fasting. We explain these as focusing more on our prayer, helping others in need and cutting out bad attitudes. This week we celebrate the feasts of St. Patrick and St. Joseph. Math: After looking at our Chapter 7 test we have decided to do some more addition practice. We are working on our horizontal and vertical problems and how to read and write the addition sentence. We are still talking about odd and even, learning to count be 5’s and learning about pennies and nickels. Social Studies: St, Patrick and leprechauns. We will be talking about Ireland and it’s culture.
