Dear SHCS Knights,
I wanted to share this letter with you from the Superintendent of Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of Portland:
I hear your concerns. Know that the Department of Catholic Schools is supporting all of our schools as we navigate these uncertain times. We are committed to living the mission of Catholic education while keeping students, faculty, and staff healthy and safe. We will be monitoring the situation closely. We have been and will remain in dialogue with the Oregon Department of Education (ODE), Oregon Health Authority, and the Oregon Federation of Independent Schools (OFIS). After prayer and consultation, we will be following guidance set forth by the Oregon Health Authority and ODE. Our ultimate goal is to get students back in our buildings so that we can continue the good work of our mission in person.
At this time, the metrics in most counties do allow for limited onsite instruction. This is a great way for us to observe and monitor all of the safety protocols that we have put in place while building our faith community and supporting instruction. We will continue to update our communities as we receive more information.
I understand the challenges that all of this presents for working parents and families. We continue to support principals and teachers with instructional tools to assist parents in this journey. Many of our schools are helping families that have lost jobs figure out a plan to pay tuition.
Meanwhile, we appreciate your collaboration. We cannot continue our mission without a partnership with parents, grandparents, families, and our greater community. We continue to need your prayers and support.
SHCS will be offering Comprehensive Distance Learning for grades K-8th until we meet the metrics. As of today, we need to have three good weeks in a row and another week to get the results, therefore we will be offering Comprehensive Distance Learning until Friday, September 19th, 2020. As always, we will continue to keep you posted regarding any changes or updates that occur.
We will continue to offer your child/ren academic excellence and a variety of opportunities for your child/ren to continue to grow in their faith throughout their elementary school years through Comprehensive Distance Learning.
Early Childhood Cole\Lloyd will be opening person to person on Tuesday, September 8th. These students will also be able to attend Daycare. This has been made possible because of our Emergency License. Mrs. Denise Cole will be sending out more updated information this week.
