Our teachers are continuing to attend more webinars and Zooms this week to learn about ways to connect and engage your child/ren in Comprehensive Distance Learning lessons. I have asked the teachers to work on building community among the students and parents for the first week of school. I feel this is critical during this pandemic and it will enable the transition to Comprehensive Distance Learning be more successful.
In the next few weeks of school, teachers will also be providing their students with log on information to begin the process of providing diagnostic testing in Renaissance and iReady testing. It is critical that the students work through these diagnostic tests alone so that teachers will be able to create lessons that are geared upon the level of the student. If they receive any assistance during these tests, it will put them at a higher level of instruction and they will not have their specific needs addressed.
Our school counselor will be starting up a new series of Second Step classes based upon our recent purchasing of materials to address the emotional and social needs of the students especially related to COVID challenges.
When we begin to provide our Comprehensive Distance Learning lessons, some of our teachers will be recording their lessons and we are required to obtain permission from the parents. Please click this link and complete the google form. Thank you. https://forms.gle/CXKNyJVs3ihwSHtGA
Our last update indicates that we did not meet the metrics again. This means we will be offering Comprehensive Distance Learning until September 25, 2020. I look forward to seeing you towards the end of the week for Resource Pickup Day. May God bless you abundantly during this time of uncertainty.
Ms. Sharon Levesque
